How to make a Sliding Door Cabinet
On your CNC Router
Step 1 We designed our cabinet on Google SketchUp, you can also use other software such as AutoCAD, SignLab and CorelDraw. You could use the principles of this tutorial for your own design or use ours which will be linked at the bottom of this page, which is already imported into the Vectric V Carve software file. The sheet of material we used was 18mm Birch Plywood and the three cutters above. We also downloaded and used the Dogbone Gadget.
End Mill (6mm)
End Mill (12mm)
Ball Nose (12mm)
Step 2 Download the the dogbone gadget from the Vectric website and install. Select the top bottom and sides in which the plyboard connects with each other to create the structure, and use the dogbone in the inner corners. This allows the material enough space to slide into other parts of the cabinet.
Step 3 Assign your cutting paths to the shapes. Ensure the rebates etc on the furniture are cut before the overall product is cut out.
Step 4 Process your material on the CNC Router and continue with your usual workflow. All you have to do now is assemble the parts!
There you have it, you now know how to make a sliding door cabinet. Download the project file below.
